Counselor

Ms. Brenda Hilliard

I am Brenda Hilliard, and it is an honor to be your school counselor for the 2022-2023 school year. 

A little about myself.   I attended South Oak Cliff High School and completed my undergraduate studies at Bishop College.  I obtained a Master’s degree from Prairie View A & M University.   I have real world experience in the field of education.    I have taught in Dallas ISD for thirteen years, all at R. L. Thornton Elementary School, now Otto M. Fridia, as a Reading Specialist, Third Grade, Kindergarten, First grade and Pre-Kindergarten teacher.  Throughout my career, I have worked with at-risk students in the areas of academics and social/emotional support based  upon their personal needs. Therefore, I am committed to developing young people's minds in whatever capacity necessary to help them achieve success. 

I have two children and five grandchildren.  I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and love wearing pink and green.

Congratulations to our school on receiving a “B” rating from TEA.  What an outstanding job!  I am so excited to serve you and be a part of such hard-working teachers! 

Oh, did I mention I am a die-hard Cowboys fan?  Let’s have a fantastic, educational school year!!!
